Dancing with Myself

Even though I don't have classes on Friday, I manage to fill up my time quite nicely.  I don't mind running errands or doing chores because I always find ways to sneak some "treats" in there.

After doing my last week 1 workout of the week, I had a lot of running around to do:  mall (such a chore, ha), bank, grocery store (2 different ones - I go to different stores to get better prices on certain things).  I went to the mall to use a Victoria's Secret coupon I had and to get a fresh juice, but the shopping bug hit me - all of the strategically placed spring clothes!! - and I ended up with a few extra purchases.

Fresh juice with parsley, spinach, celery, and carrots.
And my unintended purchases.  Thank goodness for Forever 21 and their cheap prices!  I did really need new jeans, and those fit perfectly AND were only $10.50!!  Incredible.  I needed a new sun hat, too - I take my sun protection very seriously.  The sunglasses were unnecessary but I have such a hard time passing up new pairs; I get bored of mine so quickly.  And I can always use a new dress, right?  Ever since I was really little, I've always wanted to wear new clothes right away; true to form, I'm going to wear this dress tonight.
My "treat" from Whole Foods - kombucha.  The "englightened" kind is so good because it's slightly sweet and fruity, and since it's fermented it's bubbly.  According to Synergy's website, "...our customers have experienced everything from increased energy levels and decreased appetite, to improved digestion, healthier skin and hair, and even a stronger immune system."
After my day of errands, I went to an awesome dance performance by Verb Ballets, a local dance company.  I know one of the dancers, and this was my second time watching her perform.  I love watching people dance, and always feel compelled to try out my own moves when I get home, without an audience.  It's a lot of fun, but it's not pretty.

I didn't make anything ahead of time for breakfast this morning, so I slept in (nothing enticing to get me out of bed!) and then made some oatmeal.

1/2 cup of 1-minute oats with 1 cup boiling water, plus 1 tablespoon of chia seeds, 1 sliced banana, and a handful of blueberries.  Oh and lots of cinnamon, naturally.  Chia seeds are a great source of omega-3s, much like flax seeds, but they do not need to be ground up for the body to digest them.  They also absorb 9 times their weight in liquid, so they help to thicken things up.  I don't like soupy oatmeal, so I think they give my oats a great consistency.  They also protect against inflammation and heart disease, and lubricate joints.  Good stuff!

It's sunny and beautiful out, and all I want to do is curl up in my favorite chair in the sunshine and read a book, but alas, I have school work to do.

My view this afternoon.

My absolute favorite chair (I wanted it for YEARS and my parents surprised me with it for my 16th birthday) and my favorite blanket.  It happens to be a snuggie.

I stopped by the library today and a brand new book by one of my favorite modern authors was waiting for me!  She also wrote the Confessions of a Shopaholic series, and my personal favorite - The Undomestic Goddess.  It's going to be very hard to ignore this in favor of my reading for school :(

Tonight I'm off to a 1/2 birthday party for 2 girls in my class.  Better get crack-a-lackin' on my reading assignments so I can go enjoy myself!

Hope you're having a great weekend so far!  Do you get "treats" for yourself when you're running errands and/or doing chores?

Song of the Day:

"One Short Night" by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals.  I really love her voice, and she's a total babe!  Girl crush alert.  This song is from their self-titled album, which is amazing in its entirety.  She's playing a concert with Jake Owen, Tim McGraw, AND Kenny Chesney at the Browns' stadium in July - how amazing is that lineup??  It would be the perfect summer concert, for sure.

  2. I love Sophie Kinsella! I've read the shopaholic books hundreds of times over. I almost wish I wouldn't have seen that now, though ... I have such a pile of books waiting for me for me to read, I shouldn't go buy another one. Buuuut let's face it, I'm going to go get this one now :) haha

    1. I think she might be the only author who actually makes me laugh out loud to myself while I'm reading. And this book is no exception! Despite the reading I need to do for school, not to mention the other books I'm in the middle of reading on my own time, I had to start this book yesterday... and now I'm on page 289. Oops! It'll probably be a miracle if I don't stay up late to finish reading it today :) I'm with you - just can't resist!
